  • January Target Try-On // Mom Friendly Swimsuits

I am counting down the days until we head to Florida and escape Winter in Iowa! So I thought it would be helpful to share some mom friendly swimsuits in case you are headed somewhere warm this winter or on spring break.

The suits I have chosen are modest, yet totally chic. As a mama of 3 littles, I want to be able to swim, jump, & play with my kiddos on the beach, and at the pool, but still look sophisticated & flatters my curves.

This is what it looks like to do a try-on in January when there are sub-zero temps (stocking hat & wool socks are necessary!)

For reference my sizing info:

  • I’m 5’10”
  • Wear a size 6/27-28 pant
  • Size small/medium depending on the brand
  • I’m currently 5 months postpartum & breast-feeding

Bold Florals

I love this feminine floral print in this bright orange color! The rouching on the sides of this suit are very forgiving & flattering. This is full coverage in the back & is nursing/bump friendly. I am wearing a size medium

Basic But Not Boring

This suit has a very tiny ribbing detail & the cut is so flattering. I love this color & it is also a full back coverage option. The higher neckline is also perfect if you don’t want “the girls” exposed. I am wearing a size medium.

Retro Inspired Polka Dot 2 Piece

Polka dots are going to be everywhere this spring/summer! I love this flattering, high rise bottom, and the top has cute ruffle detail (but the top is pretty low cut, and more flattering on smaller chested women, hence me wearing this adorable tee to cover-up 🙂 I’m wearing a medium in both the top & bottom. The tee is small

Leopard print is still huge this year

This is my favorite suit from last year, and its back this year too! ( I wore 5-9 months pregnant!) It is non-maternity but totally works for the bump….just size up 1. The rouching on the side is very flattering & forgiving. It is also nursing friendly.
(This is me at 25 weeks pregnant)

Tips for finding your most flattering swimsuit

– When in doubt wear a black suit. If you are looking for something timeless, classic & slimming, a black one piece is your best bet.

-To hide a tummy, look for rouching detail in the midsection. This distracts and disguises that trouble area.

-To elongate your mid-section, (if you are short waisted), look for a V-neck line. This will make you look longer & slimmer (with a 1 piece).

-To elongate your legs, look for higher cut bottoms. Make sure the bottoms that are hitting you above your hip bone (the fullest part of your hips).

-If you are heavier on top ( avoid large ruffles & embellishments (that will just add more bulk to that area).

-If you are larger on the bottom, try a solid color (2 piece) on the bottom & a printed top.
