  • Summer Style Guide: My Favorite Denim Shorts

Summer is fast approaching, and since I live in denim shorts I wanted share my favorite styles. From shorty, mid-length, ripped and non-ripped, light wash, and medium wash, there is definitely something for everyone! Below six styles are my favorite and most worn denim shorts. Make sure to check out my spring denim guide.

Editor’s Note: I’m 5’10” and my normal size in jeans is 27

AGOLDE Denim Shorts

Are AGOLDE shorts worth all the hype? ABSOLUTELY. My first pair of AGOLDE denim shorts were the Parker in the wash swapmeet which I bought over three years ago. They are by far my most worn and lived-in pair. AGOLDE Parker shorts sizing is pretty straight forward as they do fit true to size. However, since they are on the shorter size and I’m 5’10, I opted to size up for a more relaxed fit. Since these are 100% cotton the AGOLDE Parker shorts will stretch out, but after wash/dry, they recover to the original fit.

  • Wash: swapmeet
  • 100% cotton no stretch
  • Inseam 2 1/2 ” button fly
  • Fits TTS, but for a more relaxed fit go up 1 size

My newest pair of AGOLDE denim shorts are the Parker long short . These are the same wash & distressing as the original Parker shorts, but a longer inseam. I got my normal size in these since they are a mid-thigh length.

  • Wash: swapmeet
  • 100% cotton – no stretch
  • Inseam: 4 5/8″ – button fly
  • Fits TTS

*These Parker Long Short also come in a vintage black wash & white. I love these shorts so much I want to get the white pair next!

I love my Parker shorts so much a bought this black pair two years ago and love the look of this vintage black wash. It gives a totally different feel to your look. If you already have a pair of blue denim shorts in your wardrobe, a great way to update your look is with these black wash denim shorts. They are edgy and so flattering.

  • Wash: Crash
  • 100% cotton – no stretch
  • 2 1/2″ inseam – button fly
  • Fit is TTS, but I sized up in these for a more relaxed fit

Abercombie Denim Shorts

I bought these Abercrombie denim shorts after hearing tons of positive reviews. Plus they are more of a budget friendly price point. This pair of shorts is from their curve love line, which features and extra 2″ through the hips. I got my normal size in these and they are very comfortable.

  • Curve Love High Rise Mom Shorts in wash: medium
  • 99% cotton 1% elastane- these have some stretch
  • 3 5/8″ – zipper fly
  • Fits TTS- wearing a 27

Levi’s Denim Shorts

Levi’s are classic and a great mid-range price point. I bought these shorts four years ago for the longer length (almost a Bermuda style), more relaxed fit. I still wear them often and just seem to get better with age.

  • Wash: Luxor Street Short (updated version of my shorts for 2021)
  • 100% cotton- no stretch
  • 5 1/2″ inseam – button fly
  • Fits TTS – wearing a 27

Darker Wash Denim Shorts

I got these darker denim wash jeans five years ago and still love the style and wash. I love the raw hem, mid-rise and darker denim wash. They are easily be dressed up with a blouse, blazer and a great pair of heels. Or wear them over your swimsuit for the pool or lake.

Here is an updated pair of shorts (since mine are old) wash: Williams

  • Frame Le Cuttoff Shorts in wash: Williams
  • 92% cotton, 8% poly/elastane – lots of stretch
  • 3″ inseam, mid-rise, button fly
  • Fits TTS
